WWI commemoration – another lighter touch

It’s so easy to get completely depressed reading stuff about WWI. I have two books about it on the go at the moment and have had to put them both down and turn to a nice, lighted hearted cosy mystery or two. Yet there was light in the darkness, tales of great generosity and courage and, yes, humour. We Brits are very good at making light out of dark things, not least being the wonderful Bruce Bairnsfather cartoons.

So, in keeping with the gallows humour tradition of seeing the funny side…
