They gave their tomorrows for our today

When I read about WWI I’m not greatly interested in who fought who, when and where. It’s the people and their stories which interest me, especially – of course – the sportsmen. Great article about them in today’s Telegraph, but it hasn’t popped up yet online, so enjoy (if that’s the right word) this older one. One of the first black professional footballers, the man who might have inspired Jeeves, international playboy tennis ace and my beloved Ronnie P-P – they’re all there.
